ON YOUR FEET! is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Hairspray) and choreographed by Tony Award nominee & Olivier Award winner Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys, Memphis), with an original book by Academy Award winner Alexander Dinelaris (Birdman, The Bodyguard Musical). Is a jukebox musical that played on Broadway at the Marquis Theatre. Based on the lives and music of 26-time Grammy Award-winning husband-and-wife team Gloria and Emilio Estefan, a score built around the Cuban-fusion pop music made famous by Gloria Estefan. The songs featured include “Get on Your Feet,” “Conga,” “1-2-3,” and “Rhythm Is Gonna Get You.”

Rent in Havana

Broadway returned to Havana on Wednesday night for the first time in a half-century with a three-hour, invitation-only opening of the Tony Award winning musical Rent.

It was a natural to do on nochebuena, said the director, Miami native Andy Señor Jr., because the 1996 Tony winner about struggling artists in New York City mostly takes place on Christmas Eve.

Famed Broadway producer Robert Nederlander Jr. undertook the cross-Florida Straits collaboration between a Broadway creative team led by Señor and home-grown Cuban talent that, in two months, transformed 15 Cuban actors, ages 19 to 28, into a Broadway-style cast.
